1. Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is the Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University, as well as director of the W.E.B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research.

1865 In March, Julius Caesar Tingman enlists with the U.S. Colored Troops after twenty-one years as a slave. Tingman, Chris Rock's great, great grandfather, remains in the army until 1866.
1940s Alan Rock, Chris Rock's grandfather, leaves South Carolina for New York City where he becomes a cab driver and preacher.
1965 Chris Rock is born on February 7th in Andrews, South Carolina.

Why do some mothers abuse only one of their children?
Answer: I would suspect that the mother has a chemical brain imbalance or other possible mental problems. The child she singles out for abuse may be a difficult child, or they may not LIKE themselves or their spouse and that child REMINDS them of that person they hate. There are many reasons why parents do what they do to their children. Whether or not you are a member of that family, you should contact an agency in your state that deals with abuse. It is the FAULT of the mother, NOT the child. Sometimes the mother may convince the child that they are "bad" and the child may not even realize that such treatment is WRONG. Help if you can, for everyones sake.

Liberians In New York
The Liberians of the organization were in the united states just because there civil war was so bad. The Main Question that i would ask them is that what it took for them to just leave and look for relief. Why the war started, and was anyone close to them affected by the events.

My Why Question
Why does salt decrease the freezing point of water?
Answer: The ions formed when salt is added to water, Na+ and Cl-, interfere with the process of freezing. In order for water to freeze, the molecules must align themselves in an ordered fashion. When there are impurities, such as salt (but any impurity will do it), they prevent the water from reaching this ordered state as easily. This requires the water to be colder before it freezes.
